Officers Responding To Wolcottville Home Tuesday For Active Death Investigation

Officers responding to Wolcottville home Tuesday for ‘active death investigation’

LaGrange County deputies say an autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday on the body of a Wolcottville man found dead in his home Tuesday morning by a family member.

LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Jeff Campos said officers went to a home in the 400 block of East Arnold Street around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday after the death was reported. He said an autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday in Fort Wayne to determine the cause and manner of death. Neighbors said the man lived alone and had not been seen for several days. Campos said Tuesday there were no signs of forced entry and nothing appeared out of place, so police were investigating the death as “inactive.”

“There was no indication of foul play. So we’re waiting for the autopsy to tell us what the cause of death is,” Campos said.

If it does turn out the death was suspicious, the case will be turned over to the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office and the Indiana State Police for further investigation.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to call the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department at (260) 463-7491.
