2 Earthquakes Strike Valley

Two back-to-back earthquakes shake Kashmir region

7.0 magnitude earthquakes occur within 7 minutes

No reports of damage or injuries

Two earthquakes, measuring 7.0 and 6.8 on the Richter scale, struck the Kashmir region within 7 minutes of each other on Tuesday morning, causing panic among residents.

The first earthquake struck at 6:45 am local time, with its epicenter in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The second earthquake struck at 6:52 am, with its epicenter in the neighboring Srinagar district.

There have been no reports of damage or injuries as of yet. However, officials are urging residents to remain cautious and to be prepared for aftershocks.

The earthquakes are the latest in a series of seismic events that have hit the Kashmir region in recent years. In 2014, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the region, killing over 100 people. A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck the region in 2018, but there were no reports of casualties.

The Kashmir region is located in a seismically active zone, and earthquakes are a common occurrence. However, earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively rare.
