Craig Ferguson Comes to America
Scottish Comedian to Host "The Late Late Show"
Los Angeles, CA (August 10, 2023)
CBS has announced that Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson will be taking over as host of "The Late Late Show" starting in September. Ferguson is best known for his six-year stint as host of the syndicated "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," which ended in 2014. Ferguson is a veteran of the British comedy scene, having starred in the sketch comedy series "Red Dwarf" and "Doctor Who." He also had a successful stand-up career, performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." In 2005, Ferguson was hired to host "The Late Late Show" in the United States. The show quickly became a success, earning critical acclaim for Ferguson's sharp wit and offbeat humor. Ferguson also gained attention for his celebrity interviews, which often featured in-depth conversations and unexpected guests. Ferguson left "The Late Late Show" in 2014 to focus on other projects, including his memoir, "Riding the Elephant." He has since returned to stand-up comedy and has appeared in several television shows and movies. CBS is confident that Ferguson will be a successful host for "The Late Late Show." The network has been struggling to find a replacement for James Corden, who left the show in April 2023. Ferguson is excited to return to late-night television. He said in a statement, "I'm thrilled to be joining the CBS family. 'The Late Late Show' is a legendary franchise, and I'm honored to be a part of its history." Ferguson will begin hosting "The Late Late Show" on September 12, 2023.
