In a back-and-forth battle that came down to the wire, the Boston Celtics emerged victorious over the Indiana Pacers in overtime. Despite a valiant effort from Domantas Sabonis, who scored a career-high 40 points, the Celtics held on for a narrow 142-138 victory.
The game was a seesaw affair throughout, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. The Celtics led by 10 points with less than five minutes remaining, but the Pacers fought back to send the game into overtime.
In the extra period, the Celtics' bench proved to be the difference-maker. Payton Pritchard scored five quick points to give Boston a lead they would not relinquish. The Pacers fought valiantly, but the Celtics' defense ultimately proved too tough to overcome.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 31 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 26 and Robert Williams with 22. Malcolm Brogdon added 25 points for the Pacers, while Myles Turner contributed 22.
The Celtics' victory improves their record to 45-19, while the Pacers fall to 32-32. Boston will next face the Miami Heat on February 25, while Indiana will host the Charlotte Hornets on the same night.
