Boulder County Sheriff's Office Captures Images of Northern Lights

Prepare for Moderate Chances of Viewing Aurora Borealis

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office shared stunning images of the Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, that illuminated the skies over Colorado on May 11, 2024. Residents and visitors alike have eagerly captured and shared photos of the celestial display, which was visible across Canada and the northern United States.

According to Mike Bettwy, operations chief at the National Weather Service, there are moderate chances, around 40 to 60%, of seeing the aurora borealis in the coming days. The best time to view the natural phenomenon will be Friday, May 12th from dusk until 2 AM, with the northeast corner of the state offering the most optimal viewing conditions.
